Institute profile

	Egypt that has been a trade route and a connection between Europe, the Middle East and Africa, can now boast an institute that bridges the Fashion world of Parisian haute Couture and age old legacy of Arabian textiles.
	Founded in September/2001. ITM is brainchild of one of the enterprising industrialists of the country; the owners of Bella Donna Factory. Already, they have remarkable contribution to the garment industry in Egypt. Founding a fashion Institute could be attributed to their realization of the need for well-trained expertise in the field of fashion.
	ITM has an affiliation to La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parissienne, one of the most prestigious seat of learning for fashion education in the world. Founded in 1926, and also known as Ecole St.Roch, La Chambre excels in haute Couture and boasts many names who are ruling the world of fashion today; to name a few: Andre’ COURREGES, Frederic CASTET, Issey MIYAKE, Yves SANT LAURENT, Isabelle CAMARD, Jean DOUCET, Nicholas LE CAUCHOIS, Tom VAN LIGNEN, Olivier LAPIDUS and VALENTINO are the alumni of La Chambre Syndicale.
	Obtaining the attention and consent to open and operate the Cairo Branch of such a prestigious institute was only possible on the assurance of maintaining the quality standards of education. So far the institute is successfully maintaining these high standards and aspires to excel in them in the future.
	An arrangement with the parent institute has also been worked out to give the brilliant and the best students a chance to go to Paris for a 4th year of education, after completing 3 years in Cairo. This will be an additional qualification and an opportunity to work with French experts, as otherwise, La Chambre Syndicale fully accepts, recognizes and will certify the three years Diploma that is also recognized by Egyptian ministry of Education. The institute is located on the third floor of the Bella Donna’s Administrative block where a generous space has been given out for this purpose. By being in such a close proximity to a good working environment the students get a clear idea of what a practical set up looks like? Ever so, the factory extends its full support and co-operation in the utilization of any of its sources or visits of the students on the grounds of learning. The institute expects to have its own independent campus sometime in 2004. The campus at present comprises of three well-equipped studios that are being used to conduct practical and theory classes. It also houses a library that contains the essentials for the students and serves as a reference. The efforts are being made to keep it updated and well stocked. The institute boasts a collection of Siegel and Stockman Haute Couture working mannequin, Juki industrial sewing and over locking machines, State- of- the -Art furniture for Drafting and Drawing. And computer access to all the students. Teamed with local and foreign experts of textiles, fashion and garment technology, ITM does not see any challenge in maintaining its status of the only quality institute of fashion in Egypt.
